Shortboards

A shortboard is a type of surfboard characterized by its small size, usually between 5'4" and 6'2" long. These boards are designed to be maneuverable and allow aggressive maneuvers in powerful waves .

Shortboards are generally intended for experienced surfers who are looking for thrills and the ability to perform radical maneuvers. They require good technical mastery to be used effectively.

Shortboards typically use a 3-fin (thruster) configuration that provides a good balance between stability and maneuverability. Some models can also be equipped with 2 or 4 fins depending on the surfer's preferences. Some vintage boards are also available as single fins.

Choosing the right shortboard size depends on several factors such as weight, surfer skill level, and the type of waves being surfed. Generally, a size between 5'4" and 6'2" is recommended for most intermediate to advanced surfers.

1. Standard Shortboard : This is the most classic and widespread model. It is characterized by a square shape, with a pointed nose and tail, as well as a configuration of 3 fins (thruster).
2. Fish : Fish are shortboards with a more rounded and wider shape, inspired by the old fish models. They offer more flotation and stability while remaining very maneuverable.
3. Egg : Eggs are an intermediate shape between the standard shortboard and the fish. They are a little wider and thicker than shortboards, which gives them more volume and stability.
4. Groveler : Grovelers are shortboards specifically designed for surfing low-power waves. They typically have more volume and surface area to make planing easier.
5. Retro/Hybrid : These models mix retro design elements (such as more rounded shapes) with modern technologies. They offer a compromise between handling and stability.
