The short, versatile format

The Pill is the Egg of the Dolce range. A short format (6'6) with well-distributed volume (52.36L) for fun, versatile surfing. Shaped by Johnny Cabianca, the Pill combines the stability of a mini-mal with the maneuverability of a shortboard. EVA Epoxy construction with wood stringers: the solidity of a softboard, the feel of a hardboard.

The Egg's typical rounded outline favors long turns and less aggressive surfing than on a shortboard. The round tail offers a good compromise between grip and recovery. At 22 3/8 inches wide, the Pill catches waves easily and generates natural speed in soft sections.

The 2+1 setup (central fin + 2 stabilizers) combines the best of both worlds: the drive and glide of a single fin, with the control provided by the stabilizers. Unlike a thruster or quad, the 2+1 gives priority to fluidity and traced trajectories. The Pill is the ideal format for relaxed surfing while making progress.

Why choose an Egg?

The Egg is the perfect compromise between stability and performance. Its rounded outline and flat rocker generate natural speed, even in small, soft waves. Shorter than a mini-mal, the Egg remains maneuverable while retaining reassuring volume.

The round tail offers smooth water flow and gentle transitions between turns. Unlike the squash tail on shortboards (which is more reactive), the round tail favors longer turns and smoother surfing. The Egg teaches you to surf your rails, draw lines and read the wave.

The Egg is also an excellent choice for building up your quiver: it's the fun board for those days when it's small, you're tired, or you just want to glide along without any headaches. More accessible than a shortboard, more maneuverable than a longboard.

If you've mastered the take-off and basic turns, and want a high-performance Egg without the need for a hard board, the Pill is for you. It's also perfect for experienced surfers who want a fun board for smaller conditions.
