Surfboard Size Guide: choose your volume according to your weight and skill level

There is no one-size-fits-all based on weight alone. Start with your skill level, find a volume range, then validate the shape suitable for the waves you surf.

How to read a surfboard's dimensions

Feet and inches indicate length. Also compare liters, width, and thickness: two boards of the same size can be very different on the water.

How to choose your surfboard? +

Start with your skill level, then use your weight to define a volume range. Then adjust according to your frequency of practice, the waves you surf, and the desired shape. Length alone is not enough.

What surfboard size should I choose based on my weight? +

Your weight sets a starting point, not a one-size-fits-all solution. First, choose your level from the table, then select a volume range based on your practice and the waves you surf.

Which board should you choose for 80 kg, 90 kg, or more? +

For the same board size, skill level significantly affects usable volume. Refer to the line corresponding to your weight, then opt for a stable board if you are a beginner or surf infrequently. For riders weighing 85 kg+, the Burger range offers more generous volumes.

Length or volume: which criterion matters most? +

Volume is the best starting point when comparing two boards designed for the same surfer. Length describes the format, but width, thickness, rocker, and volume distribution all change the feel on the water.

Softboard or hardboard to start with? +

For catching your first whitewater waves and taking off for the first time, a voluminous softboard is generally the easiest choice. When you're regularly catching green waves and can control your direction, a gradual transition to a different shape becomes relevant.

How do I know if I'm a beginner or intermediate? +

You are still a beginner if you are working on the white water, the take-off and your position on the board. You move up to intermediate when you regularly catch green waves and control your direction. If in doubt, choose the most stable volume range or test your level.
