GUIDE N° 03
As soon as a child can swim, they can surf. Our foam boards are designed to be safe, stable, and fun. A guide for parents who want to introduce their kids to surfing.
Between 200 and 800 EUR. There, I said it.
Now, the real question is: how much for a board that will really help you improve? At Zeus, foam boards start at 219 EUR for kids and go up to 479 EUR for the performance epoxy models in the Zeus x Cabianca range.
If you're a beginner, expect to spend between 300 and 400 EUR. That's the sweet spot: a solid, durable board that will last you for years. Not a beach toy that ends up in the trash in September. We've put together a complete budget guide if you want to delve deeper.
Each shape corresponds to a surfing style and skill level. There's no universal board—but there is a perfect board for you.
Zeus offers all these shapes in foam and epoxy. The question isn't the shape—it's your skill level. The Find My Board tool guides you in 2 minutes.
Simple rule: 1 to 2 feet longer than your height, with a volume between 50 and 70 liters.
Why? The more volume your board has, the more it floats. The more it floats, the easier your take-off. The easier your take-off, the more waves you catch. The more waves you catch, the more you progress. It's mathematical.
Specifically, at Zeus:
Hesitating between two sizes? Take the larger one. This is the advice given by the 300+ surf schools that work with Zeus daily. To be sure, use Find My Board — 2 minutes, 4 questions, your ideal board.
A Zeus board is 3 to 5 years of sessions. Minimum.
How do we know? Because 300+ surf schools use our boards every day. Dozens of students per day, falls in all directions, sand, sun, shocks. And they hold up. It's the ultimate test.
The secret is the construction: high-density foam (EVA or IXPE), wooden stringer for rigidity, epoxy finish for resistance. The kind of materials you choose when you want the board to survive anything—not just last through the first summer.
All Zeus models are guaranteed for 2 years. But between us, your board will last much longer than that.
If you're asking yourself, the answer is probably foam.
A foam board (softboard) is freedom: you fall, it doesn't hurt. You collide with someone, no drama. You miss your take-off, you start again stress-free. That's why all surf schools use them — and that's why Zeus has made it its specialty.
Epoxy is the next step. Stiffer, faster, more reactive. You feel every movement of the wave under your feet. It's exhilarating — but you need to have mastered the basics first.
At Zeus, we offer both: EVA/IXPE foam in the beginner collection, epoxy in the hardboards. Full technical details are in our construction guide.
