The Temper 8'0 is a popular mini-malibu from the Classic range, designed for surfers of average build looking for stability and ease. With its 72 liters of volume, this board offers reassuring buoyancy for weights up to 85 kg. At 8 feet long, it combines the easy paddling of a longboard with the maneuverability of a mini-mal. Its Hybrid construction with fiberglass makes it stronger than school foam boards, and as easy as high-end epoxy boards.
The 8'0 size is perfect for riders up to 85 kg. Volume on the nose to avoid nose-diving, a square tail with plenty of surface area to forgive placement errors. Easy to paddle, stable on take-off, forgiving in turns. With its 22 9/16" width, the Temper remains maneuverable without sacrificing stability.
The 2+1 setup (central fin + 2 stabilizers) offers control and versatility: more stable than a thruster, more maneuverable than a single fin. The Temper is the board that helps you progress without struggling. You focus on your surfing, not your gear. And as a bonus: excellent resale value.
The mini-mal is the ideal format for starting after your course. Shorter than a longboard (so more maneuverable), but with enough volume to remain forgiving. The Zeus Hybrid construction (EPO + XPE + fiberglass + HDPE slick) gives you true glide and rapid progress. The square tail forgives mistakes, the voluminous nose helps you paddle in small waves, and the reinforced EVA rails absorb impacts without flinching.
The Classic mini-mal is the smart choice for your first personal board. Do you want an easy, solid, and versatile board that helps you progress in all conditions? The Temper does exactly that.
The Temper 8'0 is aimed at beginner to advanced intermediate surfers (level 1.1 to 2.2), up to 85 kg. It's the perfect post-course board: stable, durable, and easy to master. Do you want a board that reassures you and helps you progress quickly? This is the one.
Waves from 50 cm to 1.50 m (knee to shoulder). Excellent in beach breaks and gentle point breaks. Enough volume to paddle effortlessly, enough length to catch waves early. The Temper turns small waves into fun sessions.
IXPE Version: IXPE deck (wax needed), soft FCS fins, bumpers, carry handle. Affordable price, fins included. Ideal for schools and tight budgets.
EVA Version: Non-slip crocodile EVA deck (no wax needed), Futures fin boxes, fins included. Lighter, cleaner look. Warning: EVA can irritate the skin if you surf in a swimsuit.
The Progress range is designed for schools and first steps. Soft construction, less rigid. The Classic uses an Hybrid construction with fiberglass: stronger, better glide, faster progression. Comparable price to Decathlon, but superior quality.
The Dolce range (Johnny Cabianca shapes) targets levels 2.2 to 3.2. More reactive, more technical. The Classic is more forgiving and easy for learning serenely. If you are a beginner or want a stable board to progress without stress, choose the Classic.

I'll answer in two parts: the actual answer first, then what we think about it.
"Foam board", "softboard", "soft top" — it's all the same. The term comes from the EPS (expanded polystyrene) core covered with a soft coating.
But beware: a Zeus is nothing like a beach toy. Reinforced construction, wooden or composite stringer, high-density slick — this is pro equipment designed to last 3 to 5 years in a surf school (intensive use).
In Brittany — and especially here — it's quite rare to surf without a wetsuit. Check your board's specs or contact us if you have any doubts.
It depends on the deck.
EVA Deck (Dolce, Cabianca, Classic, Burger) — no wax needed, grip is integrated. This is the choice of 90% of surfers in France.
IXPE Deck — wax recommended. Smoother surface, feel similar to epoxy. Ideal for hot countries when you surf in boardshorts.

A beginner board costs less to buy, but let's do the real math. Basic construction, generic shapes, limited lifespan: you'll buy another in 12-18 months. Resale value? Almost zero.
A €350 Zeus lasts 3 to 5 years. When you resell it, you can easily get €150-€200 back – shops will take it, the second-hand market is active. Real cost: ~€50/year versus ~€100/year for a beginner board.

Our Dolce and Cabianca ranges rival the sensations of a rigid board — responsiveness, glide, radicality — without losing the softboard's durability.
Hardboards (epoxy, polyester) and softboards use different technologies.
Hardboard: PU or EPS foam core covered with fiberglass and resin. Hard surface, lighter, very reactive. Requires an advanced level (3.1+). Sensitive to impact.
Softboard: EPS core with a soft coating (EVA or IXPE). More forgiving, more stable, absorbs shocks. Ideal for progressing from beginner to advanced intermediate.
Our Dolce and Cabianca ranges rival the sensations of a rigid board — responsiveness, glide, radicality — without losing the softboard's durability.
